To my friends south of the border who are celebrating Thanksgiving Weekend, as a Canadian composer I’m so very thankful to be able to share with you this brand new, made-in-America recording of my song, “Let’s toil for Love not Hate.”
It’s my 4th choral creation in the series I call “Songs in search of Peace, Love and Compassion.”
The lyrics are by beloved American poet Emily Dickinson and the recording, lightly edited, is by the wonderful Utah-based Rocky Mountain Chamber Choir.
For me, in a world where Hate so often bubbles to the surface, I react to Emily Dickinson’s poem as a call to action, as a way of guiding us in the “Hate and Love” choices that we inevitably face in our lives.
For every one of us, there is indeed a choice to be made, and though it may be hard sometimes:
Let’s choose to toil for Love, not Hate!
