Greetings Choral & Vocal friends,
Hope this finds you all well and healthy. (I write after fighting off assorted colds and flu bugs for most of the winter: Worst. Cold Season. Ever.)
This month’s featured piece is my May The Lord Bless You And Keep You – a short, 2-minute SATB a cappella choral blessing I wrote in 2002 as part of my Composer Residency at San Francisco’s The National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi.
The ecumenical nature of the text makes the piece appropriate to be sung in concert or worship settings. You can hear a live recording of the piece while you look over the first couple of pages on my web site:
http://www.kurterickson.com/scores/MayTheLordBlessYouKeepYou.html
Duration: 2 Minutes
Voicing: SATB a cappella
Price: $2.00
Premiered: September 25, 2002, performed at a black-tie benefit concert at the Mark Hopkins Hotel (San Francisco) by the Schola Cantorum San Francisco vocal ensemble. Commissioned Premiere Performance.
Text: Numbers 6:24 (Old Testament blessing)
Difficulty: Moderate
Thanks for checking it out!
GUEST JUDGE AT SAN FRANCISCO CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC
This month I’ll serve as a Guest Judge at two separate composition competitions at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music:
- March 16th Art Song Competition (alongside composer Kirke Mechem)
- March 11th Highsmith Orchestral Competition (alongside conductor Gabriel Sakakeeny)
Thank you for considering my music and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best Wishes,
Kurt Erickson
