Kirby Shaw the legendary master of popular, jazz and swing choral music will be the headline presenter at both Festivals, with his extraordinary workshops and concerts to prepare his own arrangements. With over 2500 choral arrangements and compositions in print, Kirby’s music is sung around the world and has sold nearly 20 million copies.
Presented by the School of Hard Knocks, this is the seventh consecutive year of the Melbourne International Singers Festival (10-13 June) and we are excited to also offer the inaugural Brisbane International Singers Festival (3-5 June).
Dr Jonathon Welch AM, creator and founding Artistic Director of the School of Hard Knocks said these will be “wonderful weekends of workshops, rehearsals, masterclasses and performances,”
Singers and choirs will also have the opportunity to participate in fabulous vocal and technical workshops with internationally acclaimed professionals, including Dr Jonathon Welch AM and Dr Kathleen McGuire and have the opportunity to participate in two of the School of Hard Knocks amazing extended original works: Street Requiem: for those who have died on the street and No Excuses! singing out against domestic violence
