LONDON, UK — An inner-city choir whose members had never sung before is on course to become one of the leading youth groups in Britain. Formed last September, the Inner Voices choir, made up of pupils from 11 London schools, has performed to audiences in Trafalgar Square, the South Bank and Oxford University.
Future engagements include Mozart’s Spatzenmesse with the London chamber choir Voce and a Christmas concert at King’s College, Cambridge. Old Etonian Edward Watkins, 29, who is director of music at the West London Free School in Hammersmith, founded the choir with his former music teacher Ralph Allwood, who was director of music at Eton for 26 years.
