India’s Got Talent’ Winners to Perform for US President

November 8, 2010 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

Winners of “India’s Got Talent”, the Shillong Chamber Choir,
will perform for US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle on
their state visit to India next week.

The 16-member choir from Meghalaya sings in both English and
Hindi. They are planning to enthrall every guest at the banquet for
the Obamas which will be hosted by Indian President Pratibha
Patil.

Everyone in the choir is thrilled with the chance to perform for
the US president. One of the singers is understandably a bit
nervous.

[Jessica, Choir Member]:

“Well, it is really like a dream has come true, and we are
really happy for this because it is like a greatest thing for us to
meet the president of America and to sing in front of him. At the
same time for me I am really nervous.”

Another choir member has another reason to be excited.

[Eba, Choir Member]:

“I am very excited to get this opportunity to meet the
president and as well as like everyone say that I look like [Barack
Obama] so I am very excited to meet him.”

The Obamas arrive in India on Saturday.
