HULL, UK — For years, they bravely and dutifully served the Queen in countries ranging from Aden to Afghanistan. Now, they could be about to sing for Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace.
The recently-formed Yorkshire Warriors – a choir comprising former soldiers – is fast turning heads. And word of their success has reached the palace, where staff have apparently issued as “expression of interest” in having the 20-strong choir sing for the Queen.
Paul Langthorpe, one of the choir’s organisers, said: “It would be absolutely fantastic if we were to receive an official invite to perform at the Palace.
“It would be a real highlight for us.”
The choir is made up of former members of The Yorkshire Regiment. Although they admit to still getting nervous before performances, members are gaining experience that will put them in good stead before any performance in front of the royals.
Earlier this month, they performed in front of 15,000 appreciative fans at Headingley ahead of Hull FC’s clash with Leeds Rhinos.
