Famed sacred lyricist and composer J. Paul Williams passed away at his home in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Wednesday, February 17, after being diagnosed in late January with Acute Myelocytic Leukemia. He was 72. He is survived by his wife, Donna, two sons, daughter-in-law and four grandchildren. Paul has more than 700 choral works published through two dozen publishers, in both school and church markets. His works have been sung by church, school and community choirs throughout the world, and were frequently featured at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. His most recent 350 songs have been as lyricist only, collaborating with more than 30 composers, including Joseph Martin, Mark Hayes, Dr. James M. “Jimbo” Stevens, Patti Drennan, Benjamin Harlan, Lloyd Larson, David Lantz, and others. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 25, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Roller Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Pkwy., Little Rock, Arkansas 72211, 501-224-8300.
