Illumni Men’s Chorale challenges the community to help make their Holiday Concerts free at: www.christmasshouldbefree.org
In 2010, Illumni Men’s Chorale Artistic Director, Christopher McCafferty, noticed they had a few tickets left for their holiday shows, and thought, “Why have empty seats at Christmas?” Rather than let these tickets go to waste, the group decided to donate them to to local charities and military families. The response was overwhelming:
“My family would love to see your Men’s Chorale. There are 8 of us and there aren’t a lot of options when the budget is so tight.
We love the Christmas season and this would be such a delight for us to share together.”
“Thank you for offering people like me a way to participate in my community.”
These notes represent a fraction of those they received. From that moment, the group decided that ALL of their Holiday Concerts would be free and created their Christmas Should Be Free campaign. Now in it’s second year, Christmas Should Be Free is on its way to givigin out 800 more tickets to those in the community who could really use a break. Tickets are beign given to food banks, service organizations, schools, churches, civic organizations, military families, and those in need.
