May 18, 2022 by AlexaDieterle Leave a Comment

I Cantori di Carmel, a Monterey Peninsula choral group with a 40-year tradition of performing great choral works, is hosting its first Vocal Arts Academy from December 4 – 7, 2022 with performances on December 9, 10, 11 and 17, 2022. It will give 8 young professional singers or advanced voice students a fully sponsored opportunity to participate in a 4-day intensive focusing on all aspects of performance practice of Baroque music and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio in particular. Participants will receive guidance from I Cantori’s Music Director Daniel Henriks, a Juilliard-trained baritone and conductor whose career has taken him to opera houses and concert stages across Europe. This seminar will prepare participants to perform the solo roles in Bach’s iconic Christmas Oratorio with the I Cantori di Carmel concert choir and orchestra. Singers will work on the style and interpretation of Bach Cantatas and Baroque arias, German diction, and period ornamentation in beautiful Hidden Valley Music Seminars where they will also receive room and board. Please visit www.icantori.org to find out more. Applications are due July 31, 2022. Feel free to email us with any questions at . We look forward to hearing from you!
