LIVERPOOL, UK — A choir estimated of at least 1,200 members is to be added to the Guinness world record-breaking attempt Friday in the Beatles‘ hometown of Liverpool to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the debut of the group’s first single “Love Me Do,” the city announced today.
Fans, schools, the choir members and tourists will come together on Friday at the city’s Cruise Liner Terminal singing the tune on the Princes Dock to attempt to break the record for “most people singing in a round.” The record currently stands at 897. The event was announced in July.
The Beatles song was first released by Parlophone Records on a 45 RPM single 50 years ago this Friday.
