I am honored once again to have one of my pieces selected for the Project:Encore. Maria Wiegenlied is a wonderful Christmas solo by Max Reger that I have loved for years. I had an opportunity to arrange it for SATB for the North Mesquite Chamber Singers, Ryan Forkner, Director.
Below is the description that was in the Choral Journal.
Intimate devotional scene around the manger
narrative, based on the beloved melody by Max
Reger. Top soprano carries melody throughout, with lower voices in
harmonic support, with occasional imitative cells. Rocking motion in
piano (optional harp). Purity of line necessary; otherwise, accessible
and lovely, HS and above.
