Through the past thousands of years, choir singing has become more and more widespread, more and more part of our everyday lives.
We can only contemplate how it started – maybe with religious rituals? Or work songs?
But nowadays, choir singing – and music making in general – compliments our lives in many ways. We can use it to communicate feelings, to enhance an experience, to entertain ourselves and others, to create a community, to connect to our identity – and the list could go on.
Songs are something that every culture has, no matter which part of the world they are from…
And thereby, it is one of the things that can best unite all people. Like the motto of this year’s World Choral Day says: we are “Singing for Peace, Connection, and Our Common Home” (source: https://www.facebook.com/worldchoralday)
