Hanerot Halalu for SATB by Robert Applebaum

This is a quiet, meditative settiing with Hebrew and English text.  (3:48)
 
Hanerot Halalu is a traditional Chanukah prayer read/sung just after the Chanukah
candle blessings are chanted and the candles are kindled.  In the English text that I have
composed, I have chosen to emphasize by reiteration (“And we just watch them burn.”)
the notion that the candles are not to be used for any ordinary purposes, but only to be looked at.
