Greater New Haven Community Chorus, a non-auditioned, four part chorus is currently seeking choral singers to join the chorus for its 2014 Spring season. All voice parts are welcome with a particular need for tenors and basses. Rehearsals begin on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. and are held weekly at the First Presbyterian Church at 704 Whitney Avenue in New Haven. Prospective members are invited to attend three rehearsals as guests before committing to join. Attending the enrollment rehearsals provides an opportunity for interested singers to meet the chorus and Noah Blocker-Glynn, Artistic Director to see if GNHCC provides an appealing atmosphere. Open enrollment ends on January 23.
No audition is required to join the general chorus. A strong commitment to performance excellence is expected and there are opportunities for small ensemble work and solos by audition, including the auditioned GNHCC Chamber Choir. Participation each semester in a one day retreat is encouraged to help build choral skills and to provide an opportunity to socialize with other members of the chorus. Chorus members are also encouraged to share individual skills with the GNHCC to help fulfill its mission.
Additional information about location, parking, and registration fees, for the upcoming season can be found at www.gnhcc.org.
