Grant to fund four years of Phoenix Chorale’s West Valley Concert Series
(Phoenix, AZ) Hot on the heels of a very successful spring fund drive that netted over $40,000, the Phoenix Chorale has just been awarded a grant from the Sundome Performing Arts Association (SPAA) in the amount of $100,000.
This SPAA grant is one of 25 awards being presented to arts organizations primarily located in the Northwest Valley as part of SPAA’s “Grants for the Arts” program which was purposed with building a lasting legacy for the Northwest Valley’s fine arts community and to fill the void left by the closing of the Sundome Center for the Performing Arts.
SPAA handed out over $2 million in grants in one day at the Briarwood Country Club in Sun City West, AZ. On hand to receive the award for the Phoenix Chorale was Executive Director Joel Rinsema, Board President Loral Deatherage and Director of Marketing & Communications Jen Rogers.
“This is the largest grant we’ve ever received. This grant will go a long way in solidifying our concert series in the West Valley and expanding our ‘25 & Under Free’ campaign,” said Joel Rinsema. “We are looking forward to seeing the series grow over the next four years.”
Performing arts groups receiving grants located in the northwest valley include Theater Works, Chamber Music West, Sonoran Sounds Women’s Chorale, and West Valley Chorale among others. Additional grantees in the northwest valley include several schools, libraries, committees and education programs. These grants will support programs to enrich the lives of young residents and further educational performing arts programs, scholarships and training, instrument acquisition and much more. Only a few organizations from across the Phoenix-metro area received grants including the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, Phoenix Opera, The Phoenix Symphony, Ballet Arizona and the Phoenix Chorale.
The Phoenix Chorale is regarded as one of the finest professional choral ensembles in the world. In the last two years its recordings have earned a combined total of eight Grammy Award nominations and two wins. The Phoenix Chorale is dedicated to the creation and performance of new music, intermingled with more traditional concert literature. This season the Phoenix Chorale, formerly known as the Phoenix Bach Choir, celebrates its 51st Anniversary.
