Golden Gate Men’s Chorus-Four World Premieres

The Golden Gate Men’s Chorus, under the direction of Joseph Piazza is preparing itself for a performance at the World Choir Games in Riga, Lativia in July of 2014.  Competing among 15,ooo participants and 500 choirs from around the world, the Golden Gate Men’s Chorus will present four newly commissioned works by renowned composers for male choir.  Two of these works have had their San Francisco premiere at Mission Dolores Basilica this spring and two more will have their premieres in the spring of 2014 by the chorus.  I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes by Vytautas Miškinis for male soprano, male alto, and TTBB chorus was commissioned by GGMC and premiered at Mission Dolores Basilica in San Francisco on May 11th 2013 alongside of Surge amica mea for TTBB chorus commissioned from Canadian composer Leonard Enns.  

The Golden Gate Men’s Chorus has also commissioned and will premiere in the spring of 2014 a new work by Swiss composer Ivo Antognini entitled So Live Your Life, text by Chief Tecumseh also for TTBB chorus.  And finally for spring of 2014 the chorus will premiere Shine On Freedom! newly composed for GGMC by Kirby Shaw.
