Gareth Malone’s ‘The Choir’ recommissioned

April 4, 2011 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

By Kate Goodacre

Gareth Malone will work with military families on a new series
of The Choir.

BBC Two has confirmed that the choirmaster will return with a
further three episodes of his BAFTA and RTS award-winning show this
autumn. He will spend six months at the Chivenor barracks in Devon,
home to Royal Marines, Army and Royal Air Force personnel and their
families.

Malone said: “This is a very different kind of challenge for me.
These women do an important job – keeping the minds, bodies and
souls of their military partners going while they are away – and
whatever your feelings about conflict, these women are dealing with
the consequences of it on a daily basis.

“I want to lift their spirits and give them the voice they want,
but we’ll be making music under some very emotional circumstances.”
