Freudig Singers Competition Winner 2014!

Buffalo, New York, USA: June 8, 2014
The winner of the The Freudig Singers of Western New York’s 2014 Biennial Choral Composition Competition is:
*Paul Ayres of the United Kingdom for his composition, On This Mountain. Mr. Ayres will receive a $1,000 prize and his work will be professionally performed and recorded.
*Sarah Jaysmith of British Columbia, Canada earned Honorable Mention Honors for her composition, “Nonesuch.” Ms. Jaysmith’s work will also be professionally performed and recorded.
Fifty-five works were submitted from 43 composers representing 4 continents, 6 countries and 19 states in the USA.
The judges were Roland E. Martin, Director of the Freudig Singers, Professor of Music and published composer, and Martin J. Wimmer, Classical Music Radio Host on Classical 94.5/WNED Buffalo-Toronto, Public School Music Teacher and published composer. The overall quality of the compositions was consistently high and bodes well for the future of choral music.
