Fort Wayne Children’s Choir announces new Artistic Director

June 14, 2010 by Denice Beights Leave a Comment

The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir is pleased to announce the newest addition to their team, Artistic Director, Brian Clissold. Brian comes to the Children’s Choir with extensive artistic experience and demonstrated success in growing a similar youth-focused arts program in Battle Creek, Michigan.

“Mr. C” as the kids call him, attended Western Michigan University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in music education. After graduating, Mr. Clissold became the Music Director of the Battle Creek (MI) Girls’ Chorus and, a year later, also for the Battle Creek Community Chorus. While working in Battle Creek, Brian saw the Girls’ Chorus program triple in size, maintained an active and vibrant performance schedule with both programs, and prepared the Community Chorus for numerous choral/orchestral concerts. After 11 years in Battle Creek, Mr. Clissold relocated to Indianapolis. There he obtained his Master of Music in choral conducting from Butler University.

“We’re excited to have Brian leading our artistic programming and staff. He  brings an enthusiastic energy and passion for vocal music  to our organization which can help us continue to grow. We’re pleased he’s part of our team,” says Denice Beights, Executive Director.

The mission of the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir is to provide a choral program exemplifying artistic and educational excellence for children from diverse backgrounds. The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir contributes to the community’s cultural environment by providing opportunities to experience the unique beauty of professionally trained young voices.
