Everyone raves about the festival – Reno brings luck

May 12, 2011 by Stefanie Vera Müller Leave a Comment

Reno, known as a city of gambling, is now also a festival city of choirs. Happy faces of the singers confirmed this impression after the Closing Event of the second American International Choral Festival (AICF, 4 – 8 May) in the United States. “This is the best festival so far,” raved U.S. conductor James Reddan (LBCC Concert Choir) about the INTERKULTUR event.

Songs and music sung by nearly 400 singers from the United States, South America and Asia were performed on stage and in front of the jury. “We are so proud of having been in Reno and are very pleased with the event”, said project manager Jelena Dannenhauer after returning from the city at Lake Tahoe. Even the Opening Ceremony on May 04, 2011 at the Pioneer Center was a great success for participants and visitors (as reported in the blog). The culmination of the event was held on May 07 with the Grand Prix concert and the Award Ceremony.

The jury of five experts from three countries awarded 11 Golden and 10 Silver Diplomas to the choirs. The best score was reached by “Mt San Antonio College Singcopation” (USA), directed by Bruce Rogers.

The American International Choral Festival – Reno-Tahoe 2011 was the 111th of the INTERKULTUR events. All results can be found here.
