Emptying The Finale Folder:  When I Have Sung My Songs

I’m happy to be bringing this one out of the Folder.  “When I have Sung My Songs” was written  for the  North Mesquite High School Varsity Men’s Choir (Mesquite ,Texas)  Ryan Forkner, Director.

The choir was one of the honor choirs  performing at the Texas Music Educator’s Convention (TMEA) held in February of  2020.  It was one of the last events before Covid.

The beautiful text is from the well known song by Ernest Charles (1934).  Ryan had heard his wife to be sing the song on a recital and asked me to write a new setting for TTBB, piano and violin.  I knew that with a text like this, the setting would have to be highly romantic.  I hope that other  directors with Men’s choirs will  enjoy singing this song.
