Emptying The Finale Folder: When The Morning Comes

This is the second piece I wrote for the concert “This Day We Sing” for The Texas Voices, Alan Dyer, Director. It marked the first “in person” concert held November 14, 2021.
Many folks might recognize the text from their hymnals but under the title of “We’ll Understand it Better By and By”. The text was written by Charles A. Tindley, the son of a slave. The hymn was written during a difficult period in Tindley’s life. It reflects aspects of Tindley’s ministry aimed to lift the spirits of turn-of-the-century urban African Americans.
