Elektra Women’s Choir announces new CD: All My Heart is Listening

November 2, 2014 by Shannon Lythgoe Leave a Comment

All My Heart is Listening – a line from the beautiful poem Noche de Lluvia by Juanita de Ibarbourou and the title of Elektra Women’s Choir’s twelfth recording. Experience the Elektra sound and the Canadian and international repertoire that gives this outstanding choir its voice. Featuring music of composers Christine Donkin, Malcolm Edwards, Bjørn Kruse, Ramona Luengen, Kate MacColl, Joni Mitchell, Sid Robinovitch, Sheldon Rose, Stephen Smith, Ward Swingle, and Joan Szymko. The evocative poetry of de Ibarbourou, Joy Kogawa, Joni Mitchell, Wendell Berry, Marjorie Pickthall and more make this a rich listening experience. Smith’s longstanding relationship with Elektra is celebrated through many tracks featuring his playing, compositions and arrangements. Elektra is delighted that celebrated Norwegian conductor Maria Gamborg Helbekkmo is featured on two tracks, having led Elektra in concert and recording during a recent visit to Vancouver.
