Eight: The Story of Hanukkah

May 18, 2023 by robert cohen 1 Comment

For years, choral directors have been asking me whether I have anything with a Jewish theme they can use for the holiday season. Well… turns out that an old girlfriend of mine recently became a Rabbi and wrote me a wonderful lyric about the history and meaning of Hanukkah. Set in a very accessible & upbeat mood that also incorporates Hebrew text, the work for chorus (all voicings) piano & clarinet (other instruments may substitute) is a real crowd pleaser. I hope you’ll consider programming it for your choir’s 2023 holiday concert. You can hear a live demo on YouTube at https://youtube.com/watch?v=NWZ8_JaO73M. Please contact me if you’d like a perusal score.
