Do you need a specially composed anthem for your choir?

May 9, 2011 by Catherine Campbell-Nesbit Leave a Comment

I wanted to let everyone know of a wonderful experience I had using choralnet.  In January, I posted a request asking if anyone knew of Easter anthems with limited instrumentation ( I specifically have trumpet, trombone, English horn/oboe available for my service).  I received a reply from a fellow musician and composer who offered to compose a piece for our choir per my specifications.  It turned out to be an exciting collaboration and within a few weeks I received an anthem perfect for our choir and the instruments I had for my service.  The composer, Stuart McIntosh, lives in England, and I highly recommend you contact him if you are looking for something special and specific for your group.  I know he is currently working on a Requiem as well.  His e mail address is:
He is happy to hear from anyone who might be interested.  The anthem we sang was “Because the Lord Is Risen For Thee”.  I found the text in an old poem book that belonged to my grandmother.  Stuart set the entire piece perfectly and also took into consideration the voices I had available as well as the instruments.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about this remarkable choralnet experience.
