DCINY’S EDMUNDO MONTOYA AND ANDREA MACY ALSO ADVANCE IN NEW ROLES
For Immediate Release, June 23, 2015, New York, NY …. Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) is pleased to announce that James M. Meaders has taken on the new role of Associate Artistic Director and Conductor for DCINY. A renowned conductor, presenter, festival adjudicator, and clinician, Dr. Meaders has appeared as a guest conductor with DCINY on three occasions, most recently on January 2014 at Carnegie Hall for Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest. His next appearance with DCINY will be in January 2016 when he will once again conduct the music of Dan Forrest at Carnegie Hall. Formerly Professor and Director of Choral Activities at Mississippi College, Dr. Meaders has conducted choirs on four international tours as well as in concerts at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. His choirs have made multiple invitational appearances at ACDA Conventions, including Mississippi, Southern Division, and an appearance at the 2005 National Convention in Los Angeles.
Dr. Meaders will continue his key role with the DCINY Mentoring Program which in 2016 will focus on “Orchestral Conducting for the Choral Conductor,” with Concordia College’s René Clausen as the lead conductor/educator of the four-day event. This work will grow alongside Dr. Meaders’ ongoing relationships with guest conductors, composers and ensembles of note from around the globe as part of DCINY’s Program Development and Education team, which he joined in July 2014.
Edmundo Montoya is now Director of Production for DCINY, after having worked with the company as Production Manager for 3 years. Mr. Montoya has been production liaison for key highlights of the DCINY Concert Series including Total Vocal with Deke Sharon, annual performances featuring the music of Karl Jenkins, and most recently a Verdi Requiem at Carnegie Hall involving 400 singers. Montoya has worked in musical tour operations and concert productions for over six years and has managed concerts with several hundred participants in major venues a
cross the globe – from Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center, and Walt Disney Concert Hall, to halls in England and Rome. A native of Texas, Edmundo has also toured to several states as a classical trombonist.
Having led the Marketing and Promotions Department at DCINY for 4 years and overseeing numerous sold out concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Andrea Macy now holds the title of Associate Director of Marketing, Box Office & Promotions. Andrea also spearheaded the marketing efforts for the 2013 Eric Whitacre Singers North American Debut Tour, selling out houses in Washington DC, Boston, Philadelphia and New York City.
