CARDIFF BAY, WALES, UK — Principality Building Society has announced a three-year deal to secure the future of Valleys singing sensations Only Boys Aloud.
The sponsorship deal will help to develop the 200-strong choir throughout the Valleys and establish the Principality Only Boys Aloud Academi to intensively train and develop stand-out, young, Welsh musical talent.
OBA started out a year ago and have enjoyed a phenomenal 12 months, making their debut at the National Eisteddfod in Ebbw Vale, appearing in a BBC Cymru Wales TV series, and with live performances that included an unforgettable evening on stage at the Millennium Stadium with Dame Shirley Bassey and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Ryder Cup Welcome to Wales concert.
The choir is the creation of OMA music director Tim Rhys-Evans, who said: “Every one of the boys is grateful to Principality for the opportunity this support will give them over the next three years, particularly at a time when cuts in public funding make it difficult to get this chance elsewhere. Only Boys Aloud has inspired a whole new generation of singers in the Valleys.”
