Commissioning Consortiums with Karen Siegel

November 16, 2023 by Karen Leave a Comment

Spots for mixed and treble choirs are available in two commissioning consortiums I’m organizing for Spring 2024 and the 2024-2025 season:

“In Awe of the Earth” is both a prayer for the earth and a call to action.  I adapted Psalm 65, which in the Jewish tradition is a prayer for rain, but which also broadly celebrates the fruits of the earth.  In my adaptation, it is ambiguous whether the text is sacred or secular.  This work will be scored for chorus and piano.  It will be 5-6 minutes’ duration, will be a medium difficulty level.  Join “In Awe of the Earth” by December 8th, and premiere it late April 2024 – June 2025 (cost: $200 per chorus).

“The Future of Intelligence” will set a text by AI about the promise and perils of AI.  I collaborated with Chat GPT, giving it specific parameters and many rounds of editorial suggestions.  This work will be scored for chorus, double bass, and flute; with a version for chorus and piano for those that may need it.  It will be 3-4 minutes’ duration, will be an accessible difficulty level.  Join “The Future of Intelligence” by March 29th, and premiere it July 2024-June 2025 (cost: $175 per chorus).

Joining either commissioning consortium includes a workshop with me and practice tracks.  Please see the above links for texts and details, and please reach out to me with questions.
