CINCINNATI (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) – On Saturday, July 7, 2012, the Cincinnati Children’s Choir won a Gold Medal in the Champions Category of Youth Choirs of Equal Voices in the World Choir Games with a total score of 84.13 points. They were the top US choir in this category and placed 5th in the world.
Their winning performance included Cantate Domino (Paul Ayers), Panta Rhei (Jim Papoulis), Ave Maria (Cesar Carrillo), and Holy is the Lord (Jeffrey Ames).
“I could not be more proud of these young people. They have represented our city and country with integrity and artistry”, said Robyn Lana, Founder and Managing Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Children’s Choir.
On winning the gold, Mary Kay Koehler, Executive Director, said, “I could not be more proud! They worked very hard this year and sang beautifully this week. It is such an honor to work with these young singers.”
The World Choir Games kicks off the Cincinnati Children’s Choir’s 20th Anniversary Season.
