Hello friends, my first post.
“All Around the Child” is in the style of traditional carols, with some more contemporary harmony. By Jim Scott, co-composer of the “Missa Gaia /Earth Mass” with the Paul Winter Consort, the message refers not only to the birth of Jesus, but describes how the birth of a child in the cold of winter is something we all can get excited about. It reminds us of our connections to life and makes us all feel like one family.
It’s arranged for SATB and can be sung with piano accompaniment or a cappella, or a handbell accompaniment is also available.
The first verse (of 4)
Ancient story lived again, dark of longest night.
Birth of innocence and hope kindles our delight.
All celebrate the labor’s end.
Forth in laughter, tear and smile.
Light of love and joy extend all around the child.
You can hear it and see (and download) the PDF score on the website:

Many other choral pieces are there as well.
In peace, Jim Scott
