Choir’s songs and prayer to help Newfoundland hurricane victims

October 25, 2010 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

RIVER JOHN, NS – This Sunday a northern Nova Scotia choir
will be singing songs of hope and prayer to help Newfoundland
hurricane victims.

Monica Graham, a member of the River John and Area Community
Choir, said while the two provinces are distinctly unique there are
strong ties uniting them.

“There are really quite a few connections between Newfoundland
and the north shore,” she said, explaining there are a number of
people living in this area whose family roots have origins on the
Rock, including her and other choir members.

The choir will hold an evening of gospel music at St. John’s
Anglican Church, on Highway 6 at the east end of the village of
River John, this Sunday at 7 p.m.

The offering will be given to the Burin Peninsula and Area
Ministerial Council, which will ensure funds are distributed to
people most in need of assistance. Refreshments and fellowship will
follow.
