STUART, FL — Most seniors at Martin County High School are
tired of writing final projects and college applications, but a
small group of them last week happily volunteered to write an essay
addressed to one of their teachers — Ronald Corbin.
For 31 years, Corbin, 62, has directed the school’s choral group
OPUS (Outstanding People United To Sing), which will perform its
last public concert of the school year on May 24.
Corbin and his chorus have earned such achievements as perfect
scores at a national choral competition, a triumph accomplished by
only four other schools in 30 years. They also have been invited to
perform at New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral and to sing the
national anthem at Fenway Park before a Boston Red Sox-New York
Yankees baseball game.
