ARBROATH, UK — THE LONG service of two members of Arbroath
Male Voice Choir was recognised at the annual general meeting in
Knox’s Church hall on Thursday.
At the start of the meeting, outgoing president Douglas Cant
announced that Mr Bill Fenton and Mr Iain Whyte, who have over 80
years of combined singing time with the choir, had been made
honorary presidents. Each was presented with a framed
certificate.
During the meeting which followed, the choir’s varied activities
over the past year were reviewed, and it was noted that despite a
difficult start to the season, both the Christmas and annual
concerts had been highly successful. The hard work of the choir’s
new musical director, Sheena Guthrie, and accompanist, Barbara
Potter, was noted.
The following office-bearers were elected: Dr Richard J Irvine,
president; Kenny Southorn, vice-president; Jay Ferrier, secretary;
Jan Birse, treasurer; and committee members, William Arbuckle,
Graeme Cant and Ross Henderson.
