Choir escapes injury as Liverpool Philharmonic Hall rubble falls from ceiling

LIVERPOOL, UK — CHORISTERS performing Handel’s Messiah escaped
injury when a piece of rubble fell amongst them from the Liverpool
Philharmonic Hall roof.

It dropped from a duct in the ceiling after being dislodged from
a vent in the art deco auditorium.

But onlookers said the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir did
not miss a beat – even though it landed in the middle of the
sopranos.

The choir was performing the 18th century masterpiece in front
of a capacity crowd last night.

ECHO columnist Joe Riley was in the audience to review the
show.

He was in a box just feet away from where the masonry
landed.
