Children’s Choir Director Louise Kienzle Gets State Award

EUGENE, OR – Louise Kienzle, the music teacher at Humbolt
Elementary School in Canyon City, has been honored with a statewide
music education award.

She received a plaque for the 2011 Excellence in Elementary
Music Education Award on Jan. 15, at the Oregon Music Educators
Association conference in Eugene.

Kienzle teaches music to grades kindergarten through fifth at
Humbolt and also directs the Grant County Children’s Choir, an
after-school program.

She spearheads the children’s choir festival that is held yearly
at Eastern Oregon University, is a 14-year member of the local
Juniper Singers group and is president of the Juniper Arts Council,
an organization that promotes the arts in Grant County.
