The CD Americas represents American music and numerous musical styles that have been developed in both Americas and reflects the multiethnic structure of American society. From the beginning of the 20th century forms of popular music in particular reached worldwide popularity; rock&roll, country, rhythm and blues, jazz and hip hop are nowadays without doubt the most internationally known genres of American music. American musical culture, however, stretches far into the history, to the musical expressions of indigenous people who were the first inhabitants of both Americas to make music. In the 17th century immigrants of English, French and Spanish origin brought with them new musical styles and instruments, but American slaves were the ones who had the biggest impact on the development of American music.

The development of various genres in music characteristic of both Americas was marked by musical tradition of African immigrants. Gospel and blues emerged from African American spiritual, country & western from blues, jazz took some elements from spiritual music, especially “call and response”.

The program of Americas comprises of several thematic parts: spiritual music, gospel, pop, Latin American music, jazz and a selection of American contemporary art music and legendary songs of Better Middler, Nat King Colea, Connie Francis, Andrews Sisters.
