CHIGWELL UK –THE new head of a choral society said he wanted to inject some extra life into the group.
Alexander Campkin, 26, has taken over at the Chigwellian Choral Society and said he wanted to double the size of the 50-strong choir and challenge people’s ideas of a classical concert with the choir’s summer performances.
“Singing in a choir can be the most incredible thing,” he said. “You don’t have to be a singer, you just have to go along with enthusiasm and have a good time. I’m trying to take that approach with the choral society.
“Everyone seems so far to be very receptive to the new ideas.
“One of the pieces we’re doing in our concert in June is the drinking song from Monty Python. I want to break away from the stuffy image of what a classical concert is.”
