Starting on 21 September 2015, an exciting new choir will launch in Blackheath, London. Following on from the success of VOCALIZE’s innovative choral programme, the team is delighted to introduce its next project, VOCALIZE: Blackheath (www.vocalize.org.uk/blackheath).
Led by leading and experienced choral conductors, this brand new venture will rehearse weekly in the heart of Blackheath, and will perform locally and further afield, at a wide range of high profile events and concerts. The choir will be conducted by Hilary Campbell and James Dixon, both of whom studied choral conducting at the highly prestigious Royal Academy of Music; Hilary was also part of the filming for recent Gareth Malone series ‘Sing While You Work’, and continues to work with winning choir, P&O Ferries. The group’s accompanist, Andrea Kmecova, trained locally at TrinityLaban, and also runs her own successful piano tuition agency, Piano Maestros (www.pianomaestros.co.uk).
VOCALIZE was founded in 2013 by Hilary Campbell and Richard Harker, two expert conductors who have been working together for some years. Following a choral project in Northampton on behalf of the David Ross Educational Trust, the pair decided to develop a wider scheme, in order to share their passion for all things vocal, and thus VOCALIZE was born.
VOCALIZE: Blackheath, like the wider scheme, will focus on themed concerts in a huge array of musical styles, from Tina Turner to Thomas Tallis and beyond! The team welcomes singers of all ability levels; there are no auditions, and music will be taught in a variety of ways. All they ask is that you turn up and be prepared to give it a go!
