Boynton Beach High Choir TV Stars for a Day

November 29, 2010 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

by Leslie Gray Streeter, The Palm Beach Post

Boynton Beach Community High School’s Dimensional Harmony show
choir got its moment in the national spotlight on Friday, when it
appeared live on “The Today Show” in New York.

All through Today’s fourth hour at 10 a.m., the show kept airing
footage of the choir’s exuberant reaction last month to being named
the winners of the show’s “Show Choir Showdown.”

“They went a little crazy,” commented an admiring Kathie Lee
Gifford, as she and co-host Hoda Kotb watched the footage of the
choir members jumping up and down in excitement. Gifford likened it
to “a Pentacostal prayer meeting.”

On the live telecast, 20 members of the choir performed a
subdued, but upbeat version of Earth, Wind and Fire’s “September,”
complete with dance moves and a rap interlude by sophomore Juan
Almonte.
