Berlioz ‘Requiem’ Historic Recording

June 13, 2017 by Eric Townell Leave a Comment

Colleagues, the Rochester Oratorio Society (NY) has re-mastered its historic 1954 recording of the Berlioz Requiem, the first American commercial recording of this masterwork, now available for the first time on CD. The source recording, a pristine vinyl master, has been professionally restored and beautifully produced for distribution in a two-CD set with original graphics and promotional materials. This is an important document in American culture and a celebration of the artistic legacy of the Rochester Oratorio Society in its seven decades of service.
