About David Hoose: Composer, hornist, and conductor David Hoose has been an energetic force in the development of choral music in New England for more than 40 years. His deep musical insight, unique programming, and expertise inspire musicians and audiences alike, especially through his 38-year tenure as music director of the Cantata Singers. David Hoose’s musical legacy of commissioned works has elevated the musical landscape through new and substantive additions to the accompanied choral repertoire. This grant is intended to build on that legacy.
Choral Arts New England has been elevating choral music and creativity since 1980. Our mission is to provide resources to encourage choral excellence in New England, which we accomplish through our Alfred Nash Patterson Grants, our annual Lifetime Achievement Award, and our online choral calendar and directory of New England choruses. Since 1985, we have awarded over 300 Alfred Nash Patterson grants, supporting performances of both standard and neglected repertoire, commissions and premieres, recordings, improvement of management techniques, and educational programs to promote choral music in the six New England states, from the largest cities to the smallest towns.
