A Touching Story: Shomraynee El

Colleagues,

 

I wrote “Shomraynee El” (Watch Over Me, O G-d), for Solaria, Voices of Comfort, a women’s ensemble that performes for those who are ill.  I was touched to receive the following message from the director of Solaria yesterday:

 

Hi Bruce,  I thought you would like to know that your piece especially touched a particular patient this week.  I think her name was Janet, and she is in the midst of surviving multiple brain surgeries.  Doctors discovered a viral fungus in her brain.  She has been in and out of the hospital several times.  She invited us into her hospital room after a very trying day, and we sang your piece.  She was moved to tears and thanked us (and you) from her heart.  Your music is bringing beautiful solace to these patients in the hospital.
