A new song for World Peace Day

September 21, 2023 by David Rain Leave a Comment

Sept 21 is World Peace Day (the International Day of Peace). This year’s theme includes a call to action that recognizes our individual and collective responsibility to foster world peace.

My small contribution this year is to share a brand new recording of an anti-war song that I have been working on for the past 2 years.

Dedicated to the victims of war and armed conflict, “Peace must be the answer!” is a 7 minute, 8-part choral composition that expresses, in highly emotional terms, my personal reaction to the troubled world we live in.

It is the 3rd and final instalment of my “3 songs for Peace and Reconciliation.”

My sincere thanks go to the Rocky Mountain Chamber Choir for this powerful recording, which has been lightly edited.

With special thanks to Kari Turunen and the Vancouver Chamber Choir who workshopped an earlier version of this song at their Interplay workshop in October 2022, funded by the SOCAN Foundation.

“Lay down your guns, please no more war, let’s work for Peace.”
