In addition to presentations from our distinguished clinicians Lynne Gackle and Jerry Blackstone, the Massachusetts ACDA 2015 Summer Conference, located at Smith College, July 19-22, 2015, will include 6-8 one-hour interest sessions, tapping the expertise and led by our own Massachusetts ACDA members on a wide range of issues. Popular sessions last year included:
- Vocal health for choral teachers
- Women’s choirs repertoire
- The adolescent voice
- Commissioning new works
Some possible topics for this summer are :
- Incorporating special needs students
- Preparing a high school musical
- Recruiting strategies for more diverse choirs and/or for more boys
- Score study
- A “historical” topic on a composer or repertoire from a particular era
- Sessions on church or community choirs
We welcome your application to lead a session on one of the above topics or on a topic of your own choosing. Interest session leaders are not paid – they must register for the Conference, but they will receive a $100 discount. Please submit your application online at 2015 MassACDA Summer Conference Interest Session Proposal Application. The deadline for submissions is February 1st, 2015. A committee of MassACDA Board members will review the applications and choose sessions to complement the offerings of our headliner clinicians, sessions which will further stimulate, challenge, and educate our colleagues, and contribute to choral excellence in the Commonwealth and beyond.
