Dr. Robert Natter has been elected ACDA National Treasurer/Secretary. Congratulations Rob!

Dr. Natter (he/him) is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Gettysburg College, where he has been a faculty member since 1998. He teaches conducting and conducts the College Choir, Concert Choir, Audeamus (upper-voice choir) and Camerata (vocal chamber ensemble). The Gettysburg College Choir and Camerata have toured widely in the eastern United States, and internationally to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Brazil, and Canada. The College Choir has also performed for state conferences of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, the American Choral Directors Association, and is featured in a world premiere recording of Letters from Gettysburg, by Avner Dorman, on the Canary Classics label.

Dr. Natter’s research focuses on music technology. He is the creator of ChoralWorks, a free software platform designed to help singers learn music. Widely adopted by educators and singers, ACDA National Honor Choirs in Dallas and the 2024 Eastern Region Honor Choirs used ChoralWorks. Natter has presented on ChoralWorks at conferences for the ACDA Eastern Region, the NafME Eastern Division, and at state conferences for ACDA-PA and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.

Natter has served as the Treasurer for the ACDA Eastern Region since 2016, and for ACDA-PA from 2013-16. As region treasurer he enhanced budgetary strategic planning, and developed technology tools to facilitate payments, contracting procedures, and secure collection of tax forms. He has also developed a new application portal for honor choirs. Many of these innovations have been adopted by other regions and by the national organization.

Dr. Natter holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in music from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a D.M.A. in choral conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Special thanks to all ACDA members who voted and to Dr. Natter for serving in this important volunteer role.
