Over the last year, ACDA has been considering how we engage with our Industry members and how we can better leverage the knowledge and expertise of all industry sectors for the entirety of the choral field. ACDA has had an Industry Representative appointed to the National Board in an ex-officio/non-voting capacity for many years, in compliance with the Bylaws. In March 2025, a plan began to develop to move towards the implementation of a National Standing Committee that would involve more Industry members and expand the collaboration between ACDA and the industry members of the choral ecosystem. The first iteration of this work is now called the ACDA Music Industry Task Force. This work will ultimately result in the creation of a National Standing Committee in the next Bylaws revision.
The purpose of the ACDA Music Industry Task Force is to serve as a bridge between the choral profession and the commercial sector, informing and advising the ACDA Leadership on trends, opportunities, challenges, and collaborative strategies that mutually advance the choral field and its industry partners.
Task force members will:
- Advise on industry engagement in ACDA conferences, events, and special projects.
- Provide insight and leadership on emerging business models and technologies.
- Advocate for shared growth between ACDA and its industry partners.
- Support strategic partnerships that expand ACDA’s resources, capacity, and impact.
- Contribute business, creative, and management expertise to ACDA’s commercial initiatives.
Earlier this summer, ACDA held a Call for Interest to our Industry members to solicit volunteers to serve on this task force. The ACDA Executive Committee appointed the following professionals to serve the first two-year terms on the task force. During this transition in operations, Oliver Scofield will still maintain his role as the current ACDA Industry Member appointed to the ACDA National Board.
