ChoralEd, Basic Audio Recording

June 3, 2026 by Micah Bland Leave a Comment

In the twenty-first century, knowledge of audio recording equipment has become an essential tool for every choral director.  From submitting national and state honor ensemble auditions to creating learning tracks for at-home practice, producing a quality audio recording is now a pedagogical necessity. Despite its importance, many directors lack the technical expertise and confidence to utilize this equipment. ChoralEd, episode 54 offers a basic guide to audio recording to help alleviate these concerns. The episode includes a brief review of the recording set-up (fully discussed in episode 52), and a step-by-step demonstration of Garage Band and Pro Tools.
