Our choral field frequently recognizes the “top” ensembles from “top” music departments.
Yes, those “select” ensembles deserve recognition for their achievement, BUT choral success is much more than that.
For many of us, going to a convention and hearing those “top” middle school and high school ensembles perform brings us mixed emotions:
We love hearing great ensembles but we may be equally frustrated that this is the sole barometer for recognizing choral success at the secondary level.
I believe there are other tangible ways to recognize real choral success.
These ways do not require heavy funding, major awards, performances at major conventions, or trophies.
In fact, I believe my 14 “SECRET” indicators are MORE IMPORTANT than any of the current stardards of choral recognition that we tout in our field.
