What is the deal with your Ridiculous Choir Rules?

I came across a recent post in a very prominent choral director’s Facebook group (with 30,000+ members) that asks:
 

“What are your simple, short rules that you post for choir?”

It seemed like a simple question but I was really frustrated by some of the responses from my fellow choral directors.

Some of the rules that were offered in this thread were REAL RULES and yet I found many of them degrading toward students, and some must have been intended to bring humor into the learning environment. 

Rules are not FUN; they are the foundation of our learning environment. FUN happens when proper rules are in place.
