ACDA Radio and ChoralNet Radio with host, Stan Schmidt, invites you another edition of one of the longest running choral radio programs in the country. On this broadcast we introduce a new series of recordings featuring the adored creativity of composer/conductor Dr. Dale Warland.
You will hear the first of several new recordings called the Dale Warland Live Series. The two performing ensembles on this disc are the Dale Warland Singers and the Minnesota Beethoven Festival Chorale. Over the years this talented musician has recorded a lot of exceptional choral works that have yet to be released and this is the object of the new enriching collection. The series is published by Dale Warland in cooperation with Roger Sherman and Gothic Records. Choral material on this first live disc was written by Dominick Argento and Vincent Persichetti.
You can study The “Flower Songs” (Cantata No. 6) by Persichetti. Following that is Argento’s “Sonnet No. LXIV” (in memory of the victims of 9/11), and his Tria Carmina Paschalia for Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday.
The last set is the first recording of “Seasons –Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer” by Argento. Works were recorded in May 2001, October 2002, and May 14-15, 2014. “Flower Songs,” “Tria,” and the “Sonnet” were recorded by the Dale Warland Singers, while “Seasons” was recorded by the Minnesota Beethoven Festival Chorus. The other CD on this program is a new release by the Latvian Radio Choir with Sigvards Kļava, and music by Georgy Sviridov called Canticles and Prayers.
